Dozens rounded up in city

KARACHI - The law-enforcement agencies on Thursday claimed to have arrested a dozen suspects in various operation and raids carried out in various parts of the city. According to details, heavy contingents of the Rangers cordoned off Liaquatabad and Bandhni Colony and arrested at least five suspects during door to door operation. They were later shifted to unknown location for investigation.  On the other hand, police and Rangers carried out raids in Mominabad and Shahfaisal and arrested over half a dozen suspects while recovered weapons from their possession.

Similarly, security agencies raided the house of MQM student wing leader in Sarina Apartment, Sakhi Hassan and arrested Farhan and shifted him to unknown location for investigation.

Meanwhile, Kharader police on Thursday claimed to have arrested a bandit trying to flee after killing two during burglary in a shop. Police said the gunmen associated with Lyari gang tried to rob a bakery located in Kharader and resorted to firing when the shopkeeper offered resistance. The intruders were trying to flee when police, on routine patrolling, reached the spot and during exchange of fire arrested a bandit while his accomplice managed to escape.

Police shifted the victims, including the shop owner, Mumtaz, and Akhter to hospital along with the wounded bandit, identified as Abdullah where doctors pronounced the death of both victims.

Police said that Mumtaz was owner of the shop while Akhter was salesman standing on the spot when the incident occurred.

Police said Abdullah was associated with Lyari gang war and wanted to police in various criminal cases.
