CHITRAL -  A European Union (EU) delegation visited different ongoing projects being executed with the union's financial support at Chitral.

Ms Saadia Ainuddin, development advisor to Human Resource Development EU, along with TUSDEC team visited Hashoo Foundation's centre in the district.

The purpose of the visit was to monitor the projects being undertaken with the financial and technical support of the European Union (EU) with Technology Up-gradation and Skill Development Company (TUSDEC) as country partner.

The objective of the 3-month skill development initiative is to create employment opportunities for youth from disadvantaged family background. The Human Development Resource Centre (HDRC) has enrolled 100 youth for the training as receptionist and waiter in hospitality industry.

The mission visited the classes of receptionists and waiters and had an interaction with students asking their purpose of attending the classes. In their response, the students informed that there will be huge potential of hospitality industry in district Chitral after the Lowari tunnel is made functional in one and a half years. The students also showed practical demonstration of how to ensure high quality services to guests being received at hotel or office reception.

Talking to this scribe, Miss Saadia said that EU was supporting people of backward areas to enable them for gaining their livelihood with local contents. Faiz Muhammad said that they were guiding youth in skill and technology sector and they will succeed to gain opportunities of jobs.
