LAHORE - A 30-year-old rickshaw driver yesterday ended his life by swallowing poisonous pills at his house in Nawan Kot area. The victim was identified as Muhammad Afzaal, a resident of Jhuggian Nagran and father of two children.

His wife told the police that Afzaal sustained serious injuries in a road accident some two weeks ago. The auto-rickshaw driver was unable to feed his family since he was injured. On the day of incident, he got dejected and took poisonous pills. The police handed over the body to the family after fulfilling legal formalities.

TWO KILLED ON ROAD

Two men were killed in road accidents in different parts of the metropolis, rescue workers said. A 30-year-old man died when a car ran over him Lohari Gate police area. Shahid was trying to cross a road near Shah Alam market when a car hit him. The man died on the spot while the driver along with the car fled instantly. The police were investigating.

In another incident, a 40-year-old died when a speedy motorcycle hit him on the Peco Road in the limits Quaid-e-Azam Industrial estate police.

 The motorcyclist managed to escape while the victim expired on the spot.  The police were yet to ascertain the identity of the man. The body was moved to the morgue. Further investigations were underway.
