SIALKOT -  The National Textile University (NTU) Faisalabad has announced the establishment of its campus at Sialkot in collaboration with the local exporters.

Dean NTU Faisalabad Dr Zulfiqar Ali stated this during a meeting with Sialkot-based leading textile exporters held at Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) on Thursday.

SCCI President Majid Raza Bhutta presided over the meeting. SVP Adnan Arshad Sethi and VP Mian Imran Akbar and senior journalists were also present on the occasion. On the occasion, SCCI's Research and Development Officers (RDOs) Umair Nisar, Salman Mir, Miss Mehmooda Nadeem Butt and Miss Atqa Arshad briefed the NTU delegation about the SCCI advanced research and development projects.

The NTU dean assured the exporters of the university cooperation for the promotion of technical-fabrics assistance, saying that the NTU would soon establish its campus at Sialkot.

He said that the NTU would also extend help to Sialkot sportswear industry on technical-fabrics related problems, developing a strong-bond between the industry and academia.

He said that both industry and academia should work together to meet the global industrial, trade and research challenges under the GSP Plus regime.

In speech, SCCI President Majid Raza Bhutta urged the NTU and other universities to evolve effective strategies to develop special courses for technical-fabrics promotion and necessary training to cater for the growing needs of technical-fabrics industrial sector.

He also stressed the need for developing advanced research and linkage between the NTU and the SCCI.

The visiting delegation lauded the unique export culture of Sialkot and socio-economic and human development by the Sialkot exporters on self-help basis.
