SHIKARPUR - According to unofficial results received from 71 polling stations, out of total 105, the candidate of Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarian [PPPP] Imtiaz Ahmed Sheikh has got 23550 votes, the candidate of Jamiat-e-Ulema-e-Islam-Fazal [JUI-F] Maulana Nasir Mahmood Soomro has received 18628 votes in the bye-elections for PS-11 Shikarpur. According to the Election Commission of Pakistan, total registered voters in the constituency are 135,435, of whom 72,949 are males and 62486 females.

Around 105 polling stations were arranged for the purpose, out of which 29 were declared as most sensitive and 76 as mere sensitive.

Rangers Commander Colonel Asim, Shikarpur Deputy Commissioner Sikandar Ali Khushk and SSP Shikarpur Umar Tufail visited several polling stations to oversee law and order situation, and expressed satisfaction.

PS-11 Shikarpur was vacated when Imtiaz Ahmed Sheikh had joined the ruling party after leaving Pakistan Muslim League Functional [PML-F].

The district government had deployed over 2400 policemen, 700 Rangers personnel for election duty. Section 144 had been imposed across the district to maintain law and order situation.
