NOORPUR THAL: Rich tributes were paid to a great visionary and reformer of the subcontinent, Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, on his 199th birth anniversary , observed here the other day.

In this connection, a ceremony was held at Government Girls Degree College (GGDC). Vice Principal Madam Shaheen Bibi presided over the ceremony while professors - Bushra, Zara and Gazala conducted the proceedings.  Speakers included Amina, Gull Bano, Hina, Ammara, Tayyaba and Riffat Naaz said that Sir Syed Ahmed Khan was the personality who truly inserted thirst for knowledge into Muslims mind. They said that the nation should continue remembering Sir Syed Ahmed Khan who sacrificed his energies for the betterment of Muslims. They pointed out that Sir Syed devoted his entire life for the emancipation of Muslims of the subcontinent and bringing about the Islamic Renaissance.

"He was a great person who had multi-dimensional personality. Moral values were the driving force in his concept of education", they underlined.

While speaking on the occasion, GGDC Vice Principal Shaheen Bibi said that Sir Syed was the first personality in the subcontinent who motivated the Muslims for acquiring modern and scientific education. "Quaid-e-Azam, Allama Iqbal and Sir Syed Ahmed Khan are our true leaders and we couldn't forget their struggle and sacrifices for gaining homeland for Muslims of the region", she added.
