The time is not far when Pakistan hockey team will be one of the best hockey teams of the world. He said our first aim was to win Asian Games and by the grace of Allah Pakistan hockey earned gold medal in these games. Pakistan were on sixth position in Asia and eighth at international level when I joined the office but due to our all-out efforts for the promotion of hockey, Pakistan are now number one in Asia and number seven in the world, he said. He said that Pakistan hockey team would try to win London Olympics 2012 and World Cup to be among the top four in the world. He said that the federation had planned to establish 18 hockey academies to boost hockey at grass-root level and now 14 academies were in progress and rest of the four would soon be established. We have been spending almost Rs 3 billion on these academies since three years and 33 players are being trained in each academy. We also got success in increasing the players pool and we have now back-up of each player, he added. The PHF president said that each and everything was done in consultation and for this purpose, the federation have 13 elected members and three technocrats to see all the matters in a good way. We have considered those former players for the purpose of consultation who raised the countrys flag high in World Cup and Olympics and it has always preferred to get benefit from the services of them. In PHF, all the work is done in a democratic way and it is the right of former players to criticise but if they will give better solutions along by criticising the federation and team, it will surely be considered, he added. He said that senior players were just given rest and not sacked from the team. Salman Akbar is playing hockey league in abroad and therefore he was not considered and we will call seniors when their services will be required.
