ICCI invited to participate in Cuba trade fair

ISLAMABAD - Ambassador of Cuba in Pakistan Jesus Zenen Buergo Concepcion said on Thursday that Cuba and Pakistan have good level of cooperation in various sectors, whereas private sectors of both countries should come forward to exploit trade opportunities.
He maintained these remarks while attending a meeting with Yassar Sakhi Butt, President ICCI. The Ambassador invited Pakistani business community to explore opportunities in the upcoming international trade fair in Havana which will be held from 4 to 10 November, 2012. He said that Havana international fair is one of the most important commercial events in Latin America and the Caribbean with an average attendance of 60 foreign countries. The Ambassador expressed positive views over the export potential of Pakistani rice, textile, leather and sports and surgical goods in the Cuban market and said that business people from Pakistan would take this advantage through the assistance of the Chambers of Commerce of both the countries.
Yassar Sakhi Butt said that this is the right time to focus on Latin American markets and measures were required to be taken for improving trade relations between Pakistan and the Latin American region. He said that there were no direct flight connectivity between Pakistan and Cuba which was hindering the trade potential of both countries. Cuba should develop good relations with Middle East countries that would provide a gateway for boosting mutual trade between Cuba and Pakistan, he added.
Yassar Sakhi Butt emphasized that Cuban businessmen should establish direct trade links with Pakistani counterparts that would ultimately enhance bilateral economic relation.
