Pakistan Muslim League President Senator Ch Shujat Hussain and senior central leader and Deputy Prime Minister Ch Parvez Elahi have asked the United Nations and the West not to put Islamic world's patience to more test and pay immediate attention to the protests of the Muslims over blasphemy, the culprits should not only be given exemplary punishment for committing blasphemy but also effective legislation should be done on international level to prevent such heinous acts in future. In their messages on "Youm-e-Ishq-e-Rasool (Peace Be Upon Him), the two leaders said that the Muslims are followers of the peace according to the tenets of their religion but they cannot tolerate any blasphemous act and disrespect in honour of the Holy Quran and their most beloved Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him). They said that the govts of the Islamic countries should also adopt unanimous strategy in response to the voices and protests of their people. Ch Shujat Hussain and Ch Parvez Elahi said that blasphemy and disrespect in honour of any religion, faith and their respectable personalities is not only worst extremism but also an open act of terrorism and when no action is taken against such heinous acts of blasphemy and discrimination is shown towards followers of a particular religion, then this gives rise to religious extremism. They further said that showing of disrespect in the honour of the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him), by those who are even ignorant of basic principles and moral values of their own religion, cannot in any manner undermine the exalted place enjoyed by the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) but this is highly intolerable and unacceptable for any believer of the faith and this is why the entire Muslim Ummah is up against it in protest today. They said that no immediate and effective legislation to stop such heinous activities in respect and honour of the most respectable and dignified personalities poses serious threat to the world peace. They appreciated the decision of Pakistan Govt to protest on official level.
