LAKKI MARWAT - District Health Officer Dr Abdul Ghaffar Wazir has said on Friday that the District Health Department (DHD) with the collaboration of other stakeholders has finalised arrangements for the upcoming anti polio campaign.  He said the health department has constituted 457 teams to immunize 1, 45,666 children under the age of five years against the crippling disease. He was briefing the participants of polio eradication committee at a meeting held under the chair of Deputy Commissioner Syed Mujeebur Rehman.  The DHO said that 390 mobile teams would launch door-to-door activity while another 44 teams would administer the oral polio vaccine to the kids. He said members of 23 transit teams with the help of cops would stop public transport vehicles on different points to vaccinate children travelling with their parents. The meeting was attended by Additional Assistant Commissioner Yasir Qayyum, Deputy District Health Officer Dr Abdul Rehman, District Coordinator Expanded Program Dr Hafeezullah, Polio Eradication Officer Dr Adnan Akbar Khan and other officials. "To eradicate polio is a national cause and government employees should utilise all their energies to make the district free from the fatal disease," said deputy commissioner.
