LAHORE - Wheat and machinery worth millions of rupees were gutted after huge fire broke out inside a flour mills in Lahore’s Manawan area yesterday.

No casualty was reported in the blaze which was extinguished after six hours efforts.

Rescue workers said the fire erupted in the godown of the mills, located in the Sharifpura area, and spread to the entire processing unit within minutes. Firefighters said apparently, the cause of the blaze was short-circuiting.

Several firefighting units rushed to the spot soon after the incident and managed to put out the blaze after six hour long hectic efforts.

According to mills owner Haji Nawaz Ahmed, they were yet to assess the financial losses. The fire also damaged a portion of the building. Authorities were also investigating the fire incident.
