NEW YORK - Amid rising tensions between Pakistan and India, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who is in New York at the head of the Pakistani delegation to the UN General Assembly, spoke to Army Chief General Raheel Sharif by phone on Tuesday and discussed the prevailing situation in the region.

A brief press release issued by the Pakistani Mission to the UN said that the discussion was lengthy, but gave no details.

Tension between India and Pakistan spiked after the recent attack on Indian troops in Uri sector of Occupied Kashmir.
