taxila - The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is the lifeline of future economy of Pakistan and role of security agencies, especially Pak Army, is laudable to ensure uninterrupted completion of this landmark project.

This was stated by Pakistani-origin Dutch industrialist Sheikh Zeeshan Saeed during “Face the Press” programme of Tehsil Press Club Taxila yesterday.

Saeed said the progress on CPEC route has been going on in positive direction and timely completion will make it another proof of Sino-Pakistan friendship like Karakourm Highway (KKH).

Responding to a question, he said that although geopolitical experts termed this project as “game changer” yet this project is lifeline in opinion of economic experts. He said that CPEC would stabilise national economy as the project envisages power generation, infrastructure development, modernization of industry and integration of regional economy.

He further stated that with the CPEC, China has opened new avenues for economic and trade development in Pakistan as China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a significant part of a regional initiative led by China, known as ‘One Belt, One Road’ (OBOR) or the New Silk Road Economic Development Corridor. He pointed out that with the success of the CPEC, Pakistan would swiftly be included among the fast developing countries.

He said that it is expected that a successful implementation of the CPEC project will increase regional connectivity and cooperation and subsequently also the neighbouring countries are benefiting from the new economic corridor.
