According to sources, 25-year-old Sher Zaman, resident of Sarhad Town (Sindh) was brought to the emergency ward of Sheikh Zayed on Friday as a dengue patient. After his pathological tests, the dengue was found negative.

Emergency medical ward head Dr Atif shifted the patient to medical ward 1. Later he was shifted to an isolated ward where doctors allegedly did not care for him due to which he died.

When contacted SZMCH MS Dr Tasneem Kamran claimed that Sher Zaman was an hepatitis patient. Registrar medical ward-1 Dr Zaeem declared the patient affected by Congo virus without any investigation and told to associate professor medical ward Dr Waheed Chaudhry who immediately advised him to shift the patient to an isolated room of the emergency.

She further said that if the doctors in medical ward-1 treat the patient properly he could survive because when the patient was shifted to isolated room his BP was below 60 where he expired.

Principal SZMCH Dr Tariq initiated an inquiry and the blood samples of deceased were sent to Islamabad.
