ISLAMABAD - Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi would be paying a three-day official visit to the United Kingdom from September 26 2021, during which he would convince top British officials not to cancel the scheduled tour of British cricket team to Pakistan, it is learnt officially.
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi who is in New York to attend the UNGA session, on his way back after visiting New York, would arrive in London on September 26.
Qureshi would meet his British counterpart Liz Truss who replaced Dominican Raab on September 15 in a major cabinet reshuffle.
Bilateral relations, regional situation, Afghanistan and planned visit by British cricket to Pakistan next month are on the top of the agenda of his talks with British authorities.
“Although the British cricket team’s scheduled visit to Pakistan is still intact however after cancellation of NZ cricket team there are apprehensions that British authorities may cancel British cricket team visit to Pakistan,” a diplomatic source told The nation.
Foreign Minister would also address the think tank for which time and dates are still in negotiation.
Qureshi would also address Pakistani media before his departure to Pakistan on September 28.
“The issue of cancellation of the visit of New Zealand cricket team to Pakistan would also be discussed in the talks between two foreign ministers as an alliance of 5 eye (an intelligence alliance of US, Canada, UK, Australia and New Zealand) which issued security alert to NZ for a possible terrorist attack on NZ team.
Diplomatic sources told The Nation that Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi would personally thank the British Foreign Secretary for removing Pakistan from the red list.
“Bilateral trade and economic ties, cooperation in the field of education, health, defence, security, science and technology would also be discussed during official talks,” official sources confirmed.
