ISLAMABAD - The environmental conscious citizens of Pakistan and across the world are all set to celebrate the 42nd anniversary of the World Earth Day 2012 on Sunday under the theme of ‘Mobilise the Earth’.
Each year the day marks the anniversary of the birth of a modern environmental movement during 1970s which aimed at to put check on the detrimental impacts of industrialization and modernization on the human beings and environment.
On April 22, more than one billion people around the globe will participate in Earth Day 2012 and help Mobilize the Earth. People of all nationalities and backgrounds will voice their appreciation for the planet and demand its protection.
Earth Day 2012 will act as a launch pad for growing the environmental movement and will put forth a bold declaration demanding immediate action to secure Renewable Energy for All and a sustainable future for the planet.
The movement will be comprised of individuals of every age from all corners of the Earth, and will call upon local, national, and international leaders to put an end to fossil fuel subsidies, embrace renewable energy technology, improve energy efficiency, and make energy universally accessible.
Throughout the month of April 2012 and on Earth Day (April 22), Earth Day Network and its wide range of partners will organise and promote events to help Mobilize the Earth.
Individuals, organizations, businesses and governments can voice their support for the campaign by performing environmental actions and lending their names to this global referendum demanding change.
Earth Day will also be celebrated on Sunday in several cities including Bahawalpur. The day will mark with theme ‘Mobilise the Earth’ which recognises the people of all nationalities 2012 and backgrounds will celebrate the planet and also encourage its protection.
