LAHORE - Allama Iqbal was the ideologue behind the Pakistan Movement and the political elite as well as the nation should follow his teachings and philosophy to transform Pakistan into a state that was conceived by Allama Iqbal, said PTI chief Imran Khan.

He expressed these views in a message on Saturday on the 74th death anniversary of great scholar Allama Iqbal. The PTI chief said that Iqbal envisioned a Pakistan, which would be a real welfare state in which all citizens would be equal under the law.

He said, “Unfortunately soon after the independence we as a nation have deviated from Iqbal’s teachings, consequentially putting Pakistan into a chaos, which we are seeing today”.

He added, “We must highlight Iqbal’s teachings and follow them to create a society believes in social and economic justice”.
