QUETTA - The senior leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Makhdoom Javed Hashmi has said that he was personally in favour of forming new provinces in the country, however, PTI was preparing its policy in this connection.

He condemned the injustices committed with the people of Balochistan by rulers and recovery of bullet riddled dead bodies of Baloch missing persons. Talking to journalists in Quetta Press Club on Saturday, he said that PTI was the last ray of hope for the people and a large number of people were joining it. “From the platform of PTI a new era of politics has began in the country and the big gathering at PTI’s platform in Quetta is clear evidence,” he added. He said that Balochistan had been subjected to injustices in the past and its people were kept deprived of their rights, therefore super powers, including America were focusing on Balochistan. If we deprived our people of their rights then definitely the world would interfere in our issues, PTI leader remarked. He regretted that the resources of Balochistan were used in Punjab and Karachi such as gas, when discovered in Balochistan in 1950s it was given to Punjab and Karachi while Quetta got the facility after 40 years “The struggle for rights eventually alters into struggle for separation and freedom. East Pakistan separated from us and now its people say they are economically very sound,” he added. Javed Hashmi said that he was personally in favour of formation of new provinces in the country, including Hazara but it should be in accordance with the demands of people. “I am also not personally against formation of Pashtun province in Balochistan, however, PTI is preparing its own policy in this regard,” he informed. Lambasting rulers, he said that incumbent assemblies had lost their credibility as the people were not getting their problems solved. However, he said that they out rightly rejected interference of army. “Baloch youth are being whisked away and their bodies are thrown which is increasing hatred. Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti believed in the politics of federation but he was brutally killed,” he remarked. Hashmi said that Balochistan was very rich in mineral resources as according to a report of agriculturalists that Balochistan would be the hub of providing wheat in future. To a query, he said that though army was powerful yet we strongly oppose use of force against people and added that the political rights of people should be given protected and the resource could be looted by force. The basic agenda of PTI is equal distribution of resources amongst the people, he added. Responding to a query regarding dissidents, PTI leader asked Nawabzada Bramdagh Bugti and Harbiyar Marri to come and emancipate them and help formation of a Pakistan whose foundations were laid by Nawab Akbhar Khan Bugti and Pashtoon leaders through scarifies.

He said that he believed in politics of principle, however he conceded that he had become a part of cabinet in General Ziaul Haq regime which was his biggest mistake. “When PPP formed government in 1988 I joined opposition party the Muslim League,” he said. He assured that if PTI is voted into power it would hold dialogues with all exasperated Baloch leaders who were struggling for their rights and solve all issues. Yet to another query, he said that General (r) Pervez Musharraf had said in the presence of journalists that Nawab Bugti and Javed Hashmi would not be spared at any cost. Nawab Bugti was killed and I was sent to jail therefore remained safe, he added.
