QUETTA - Lawyers’ fraternity boycotted proceedings throughout Balochistan on Saturday condemning the kidnapping of renowned lawyer Mukesh Kholi, who had been kidnapped by armed men in Satellite town on Friday morning.
The strike call was given by Balochistan Bar Association (BBA) and High Court. The courts in Quetta wore a deserted look as lawyers did not appear in superior and lower courts and before local magistrates.
Hearings were adjourned till next date causing inconvenience to the litigants. Strike was also observed in Mastung, Pishin, Chaman, Loralai, Panjgur, Sibi, Nushki, Nasirabad, Kharan, Kalat, Khuzdar and other areas of Balochistan to condemn the abduction. President of BBA Dawood Kasi, Balochistan High Court President Zahoor Shahwani and other in a statement condemned the kidnapping. They demanded government and law enforcing agencies to arrest the culprits.
 “The people of Balochistan are deprived of their basic rights,” Zahoor Shawani said while addressing a news conference. They condemned the incidents of kidnapping for ransom and target killing. “At least ten people were killed in targeted killing incidents in Quetta last week,” they added. They announced that they would continue to boycott court proceedings on Monday and will hold a protest rally. “We will intensify our protest if kidnapped lawyer was not recovered safely,” they warned.
