LAHORE - Additional District and Sessions Judge Abdul Raheem on Saturday ordered the police to act in accordance with law against Provincial Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Rana Sanaullah and other workers of PML-N for violating law by taking a rally on Mall Road.

The judge issued this order on an application filed by Advocate Muhammad Munir seeking registration of a case against Rana Sanaullah and other workers of PML-N for violating Section 144 imposed on Mall Road against all sort of processions.

The petitioner’s counsel Advocate Muhammad Azhar Siddique argued that all citizens are equal before law but Rana Sanaullah being Law Minister himself did not care for the law and violated it by taking out a rally on Mall Road in protest against loadshedding on March 29, 2012. He contended that law treats all citizens equally and no one was beyond the law. He said the petitioner and he himself were committed for the public welfare and that is why they raised their voice.

Whenever any citizen took out rally at The Mall, it were Punjab Police that baton charged them but when Rana Sanaullah himself along with other workers of PML-N came out on Mall Road, no one dared to stop him.He told the court when CCPO was requested to register a case against Rana Sanaullah and other workers of PML-N, he refused to do so.
