mirpur (ajk) -  People of Azad Jammu and Kashmir observed the 75th death anniversary of poet philosopher and great thinker Allama Dr Muhammad Iqbal here on Sunday, with the pledge to continue their just struggle for the liberation of Kashmir which is tantamount to completing Muslim in line with the thoughts of the great poet philosopher.

Various cultural, political and social organisations held meetings and seminars to highlight the services rendered by the great visionary of 20th century and pay homage to Poet of the East.

Quran khawani was held coupled with special prayers for the prosperity and solidarity of the country. In Mirpur speakers paid glorious tributes to the poet philosopher at a special ceremony held under the auspices of Jammu and Kashmir Writers Forum. Speakers paid rich tributes to the poet of the east for authoring the idea of inception of a separate homeland for Muslims of the sub continent - Pakistan. “And the idea was translated into reality under the dynamic leadership of father of the nation - Quaid-e-Azam”, they said.  Speakers said that it is time to divert all energies to safeguard the ideological and geographical frontiers of Pakistan besides get the country rid of the prevailing internal and external threats under the teachings of the great national heroes including Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal.

Similar functions and seminars were also reported from other towns of AJK including the capital city of Muzaffarabad.

All the three radio stations of Mirpur, Muzaffarabad and Tararkheil aired special programmes with special emphasis on life and services of the great poet.

Local Newspapers also brought out special supplements on the occasion.

A delegation of the AJK people from Mirpur visited the mazar of Allama Dr Muhammad Iqbal in Lahore and laid wreaths to pay homage to great poet philosopher.
