Lahore - A total of 2,367 and 5,758 candidates for 148 National Assembly seats of Punjab and 297 Punjab Assembly general seats respectively will contest in general polls to be held on May 11th.
According to Punjab Election Commission statistics issued here on Sunday, total 3,569 were validly nominated after disposal of appeals on 148 National Assembly seats from Punjab while 1,202 withdrew their nomination papers and 2,367 contenders are in final race. Likewise, on 297 Provincial Assembly seats 8,610 candidates were validly nominated and 2,852 among them withdrew their papers.
The number of final candidates for Provincial Assembly seats is 5,758. On 35 National Assembly reserved for women seats from Punjab and 66 Punjab Assembly reserved for women seats, 123 and 231 candidates were validly nominated respectively.
On the reserved seats for women for both National Assenbly and Provincial Assembly, no one withdrew their nomination papers.
