ISLAMABAD - Led by AJK Prime Minister Ch. Abdul Majid a large number of Kashmiris on Monday gathered outside the premises of United Nations Military Observers Group for India and Pakistan (UNMOGIA) to record their protest over what they termed the sham elections in Indian Occupied Kashmir.
“The Kashmiris all over the world are marking the day as ‘black day’ against the elections drama in Occupied Kashmir and to make the international community realise that all what India is doing in Kashmir has no legal and moral justification,” said APHC Convener for AJK and Pakistan Syed Yousuf Naseem.
Jointly organised by AJK government and All Parties Hurryiat Conference (APHC) here on Monday the demonstrators were wearing black bands on their arms and were chanting slogans against India and the occupation forces, which were continuing with their atrocities against the innocent Kashmiri people in occupied Kashmir.
The demonstrators were also demanding of the world community and United Nations to implement its resolution guaranteeing the Kashmiri people the right to decide about their future through plebiscite.
AJK Prime Minister Ch. Abdul Majid, Central Convener of APHC for AJK and Pakistan Syed Yousuf Naseem and other leaders belonging to different shades of life in AJK handed over a memorandum to the UNMOGIA officials, demanding of the UN to help stop the pogrom of innocent Kashmiri people at the hands of Indian occupation forces. The demonstrators termed the elections in occupied Kashmir under the Indian Constitution a sheer violation of the UN Resolutions and declared the whole exercise as illegal and devoid of any moral or constitutional value.
The demonstrators also staged a sit-in in front of the UNMOGIA office for some time. They were also holding placards and banners with slogans completely rejecting the elections in occupied Kashmir and demanding immediate implementation of the UN resolutions for resolution of the longstanding issue on the UN agenda. Some of the banners carry slogans demanding release of the APHC central leaders in occupied Kashmir who were arrested before the elections.
In the memorandum, which was handed over to the representatives of the UNMOGIA officials, the demonstrators demanded implementation of the UN resolution and completely rejected the elections in occupied Kashmir.
It was further demanded of the international community to intervene and help stop the brutal killings of the innocent people in occupied territory, without search warrant raids in the residences of people and disgracing of the ladies and other rights violations by the occupation forces.
