Pak ambassador to Saudi Arabia elected OIC ASG

ISLAMABAD : Pakistan’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Naeem Khan, has been elected as the Assistant Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). According to Foreign Office, the election was held in Jeddah on Monday during the meeting of the OIC Permanent Representatives.  Candidates from Pakistan, Afghanistan, Indonesia and Malaysia contested for the position of Assistant Secretary General from the Asian Group.
The consecutive election of Pakistan’s candidate to the senior post of Assistant Secretary General indicates the prestige and confidence Pakistan enjoys in the OIC.
Ambassador Naeem Khan would replace Ambassador Moiz Bokhari who was elected to this post in 2009. Pakistan attaches high importance to the OIC.
Ambassador Naeem Khan would continue with our efforts to project and promote the common interests of the Muslim Ummah through the OIC.
