The people of Azad Jammu & Kashmir observed 77th death anniversary of Poet of the East Allama Dr Muhammad Iqbal on Tuesday with renewal of the pledge to continue their just and principled struggle for liberation of occupied Kashmir from India.

They also pledged to make Pakistan a true Islamic state in line with the thoughts of the great philosopher. Various cultural, political and social organisations held meetings and seminars to highlight his services. They paid homage to the Poet of the East. Fateha khawani was held coupled with special prayers for prosperity and solidarity of the country.

In Mirpur, Dr Majeed Nizami Forum held a special meeting to pay glorious tributes to the poet. Speakers including Mirpur District Bar Association President Muzaffar Ali Zaffar, PML-N AJK leader Ch Muhammad Saeed, President of Kashmir Press Club Syed Abid Hussain Shah, Commissioner (Retd) Raja Fazalur Rehman, former President of DBA Riaz Inqlabi and Zaheer Azam Jiraal paid glorious tributes to the philosopher in acknowledgement of authoring the great idea for the emergence of separate state.

Various cultural, political and social organizations have chalked out special programmes in different parts of the liberated territory to highlight his services.

People from various parts of AJK visited the mausoleum of Allama Iqbal in Lahore to lay floral wreath to pay homage to Poet of the East on behalf of the people of Jammu & Kashmir. All the three radio stations of Azad Jammu Kashmir including Mirpur, Muzaffarabad and Tararkheil and AJK TV aired special programmes on life and services of the great poet.
