Islamabad (PR) - Ambassador of Belgium to Pakistan, Peter Claes officially presented Sadruddin Hashwani, Chairman Hashoo Group, with the gold medal of the Civil Cross First Class during an official ceremony held here at a local hotel.

This prestigious award was conferred on Hashwani for his outstanding services in the promotion of relations between Pakistan and Belgium and for his remarkable role in the socio-economic development of Pakistan, says a press release issued here on Tuesday.

The festive event at the Islamabad Marriott was attended by the elites of the city with distinguished guests from government, diplomatic and business circles as well as close friends.

In his address, Ambassador Claes extensively thanked Hashwani for his loyal commitment to the Kingdom of Belgium and his active support to the embassy over the past 25 years.

In his acceptance speech, Hashwani said “It is indeed a great honour for me to receive this Golden Medal of the Civil Cross First Class from Ambassador Peter Claes, which has been conferred upon me by King Philippe, King of the Belgians.”

He further said, “I am proud of my 25 years of loyal association with Belgium and during all these years I and my staff at the honorary consulate have been privileged to perform our duties and to serve as the Belgian representation in Karachi. My Office at the honorary consulate has always been at the service of both the embassy and all visiting Belgian in Karachi.”

It bears remembrance that, by the decision of King Philip, Hashwani was appointed on 29 April 2014 to the rank of Knight-Commander in the Order of Leopold II, the house order of the Belgian monarchy to reward outstanding personalities having rendered exceptional services to the kingdom.
