The ongoing conflict in Yemen is a proxy war between Saudi Arabia and Iran for power in the region. Both want to dominate and in this process they are indirectly involved in the conflicts of Iraq, Syria and now Yemen. Saudi Arabia has requested Pakistan to participate in its military incursion and Pakistan has to make a decision to diplomatically handling the situation. It should not enter into a war on a foreign land again, compromising its own security. Secondly, Pakistan should not come into direct conflict with Iran, its immediate neighbor, by stepping into the conflict. The government has taken the right decision so far to decline the Saudi request, though extending verbal support. Pakistan at this juncture, should not take any decisions which can prove to be counter to the long-term interests of its own people and its security.
