Dilapidated condition of road irks commuters

RAWALPINDI:  The deteriorating and dilapidated condition of the road from Chungi Number 22 to Bakramandi has been irking the commuters since long but the concerned authorities and public elected representatives are paying no heed towards the issue.

The road is damaged from many places due to rain and negligence of Chakala and Rawalpindi Cantonment Boards, which causes long traffic jams during rush hours. Also, the increasing number of vegetable and fruits shops, hand push carts, goat sellers and the stalls of the traders on both sides of the road has resulted in traffic congestion, which is seriously disturbing the citizens. In addition to that, a large part of the road has been occupied by illegal parking lots, including the motorcycle workshop owners.

I have lodged several complaints with concerned authorities but they paid no heed to my complaints,” said Imran Ali, an employee of a private housing society. He said the concerned authorities should repair the road immediately.

He said the cantonment board authority has been informed about the bad condition of the road but no action was taken. “My business is going into loss as customers cannot park their vehicles outside my shop due to traffic jam for shopping,” he said.Cantonment Executive Officers of CCB and RCB were not available for their comments.

However, MPA Malik Iftikhar Ahmed, when contacted, said he had talked with the cantonment authorities for repairing the damaged road.
