No change in Sindh

KARACHI - Pakistan People's Party top leadership has assured Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) that despite the resignation of former President Pervez Musharraf, his nominated Sindh Governor Dr Ishrtual Ibad would not be replaced, insiders in PPP and MQM told The Nation here on Thursday. The sources in MQM and PPP disclosed that PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari had sent his envoy, Dr Asim NRB Chairman to London who along with Wajiad Shmasul Hasan met with MQM Chief Altaf Hussain and assured him that PPP would not replace Sindh Governor Dr Ishrtual Ibad. Asif Ali Zardari has thanked MQM Chief Altaf Hussain for his support vis-a-vis impeachment of former President and vowed that both political parties would further strengthen their relations. He hoped that in the post-Musharraf political scenario, the PPP stance on judges issue would further strengthen relations between PPP and MQM. Political pundits predict that after PML-N's saying goodbye to coalition government, there is strong possibility that MQM already ally in the Sindh government would also join the PPP in the federal government Political observers also forecast that if MQM and PPP would agree to replace Dr Ishrtual Ebad Khan from the slot of Sindh Governor, Dr Asim Chairman NRB would be named for the Sindh Governor office. NRB Chairman Dr Asim would be acceptable Governor to both MQM and PPP. When contacted, MQM Deputy Parliamentary leader Haider Rizvi told The Nation that neither the PPP leadership nor any government official has informed the MQM about any move vis-a-vis the Sindh Governor replacement. It may be noted here that the Sindh Governor Ishratul Ibad, who has served for quite long period as Sindh Governor has played an important role to bring the ruling PPP and MQM closer.
