LAHORE - Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Khawaja Muhammad Sharif has taken a suo moto notice of the Zarco Exchange Company (private) Limited and its different franchises allegedly for playing fraud on money of the people. The CJ has called for the appearance of Director General FIA, Islamabad, Deputy Attorney General, and the Advocate General Punjab on August 26 next before the bench comprising himself and Justice Ijaz Ahmad Ch. The Deputy Attorney General has also been directed to ensure presence of Director Securities, Exchange and Commission of Pakistan and also an officer well conversant with matter, from the State Bank of Pakistan on the same date. The Chief Justice had received an application of one Bashir Ahmad of Ferozwala, District Sheikhupura stating that the said company had defrauded him and after which it was found out that the company and its franchises has allegedly played fraud with other persons by way of not sending the money to the destination and the total sum ran into lakhs of rupees. The applicant has sought transfer of $3000 which had to be paid to an institution at Paris, France, as fees of his son, but the money never reached the destination. The CJ held about the company, headed by one Lakhte Husnain, that committing fraud at this massive scale with people is a very serious matter and deserves to be taken note of so seriously. The Advocate General Punjab has been directed to ensure compliance with the order and also assist the court on the next date of hearing. Statements recorded in Gora tragedy An inquiry tribunal comprising Justice Iqbal Hameed-ur-Rehman of the Lahore High Court Friday recorded statements of witnesses regarding Gojra house burning tragedy. MS THQ Hospital Gojra Dr Muhammad Bashir and ASP Gojra Sadiq Ali recorded their statements. Further proceedings were adjourned for August 25 for recording of statements of 39 witnesses to whom notices have been issued.
