Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has announced to fix the ex-mill price of sugar at Rs 45 per kg throughout the country, report said. The decision was taken in a high-level meeting held here Saturday with PM in chair to review the ongoing sugar shortage in the country. The meeting approved the ex-mill rate of sugar as Rs 45 per kg. The new rate has been decided for next three months and would be implemented with immediate effect. The meeting also decided to waive 50 percent of GST (general sales tax) on sugar, sources said.
