Pak teams win in Asian Team Snooker

KARACHI - Pakistan ‘A’ and ‘C’ faced a strong challenge before beating their respective opponents on the opening day of Asian Team Snooker Championship on Thursday. The host’s top team comprising of former IBSAF World Amateur champion M Asif and ex-Asian No 2 M Sajjad overpowered Thailand 3-2. Pakistan made shaky start by dropping the first frame and came from 1-2 down to beat Thailand. Two breaks one by Sajjad of 69 and other by Asif of 64 proved vital in Pakistan team’s exciting victory. Asif and Sajjad salvaged some pride when they thrashed Qatar 3-0 to chalk out their second win. They will be facing Palestine in their last league match on Friday. “We are hoping to face Iran in the final,” Asif said. Pakistan ‘C’ having Asjad Iqbal, Shehram Changezi and Sohail was taken to full distance before notching-up 3-2 victory. Pakistan ‘B’ have Imran Shahzad, Shahid Aftab and M Bilal routed Bahrain to register a commanding 3-0 victory.–APP
