Auditors rewarded for tracing ‘missing’ Turkish necklace

Islamabad - The auditor general has approved honorarium for the officers who had pointed out the missing of necklace of Turkish prime minister’s wife from the record of National Database Regularity Authority during audit. The auditor general has approved grant of honorarium equal to one month salary to supervisory officers and two months’ salary to the audit team. Rana Assad Amin, the auditor general of Pakistan, said in a statement that a necklace, given as donation by the wife of Turkish Prime Minister Tayyab Erdogan for flood affectees, has been taken away for other use. This case was originally reported by auditor general in the audit report of NADRA for the years 2010-11 to 2012-13. While appreciating the efforts of the audit officers and staff who contributed to the public accountability and pointed out losses to the public exchequer, the auditor general desired that every auditor of the department should work with the same zeal and dedication. Later, Federal Investigation Agency recovered the necklace from the wife of former Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani.
