KARACHI - Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan  Tuesday extended its complete support to Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf candidate Arif Alvi as presidential candidate in the presidential polls scheduled for September 4.

President designate from Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Arif Alvi on Tuesday met Muttahida Qaumi Movement leadership for seeking their support in the presidential election.

Alvi reached MQM-P’s makeshift headquarters in Bahadurabad along with local party leaders including Firdous Shamim Naqvi, Haleem Adil Shaikh and others and met with the MQM-P delegation led by its convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui.

Alvi told Maqbool that they wanted MQM-P to be part of PTI decision to support him for presidential candidate and both the parties should work together for the betterment of the city.

Maqbool assured Alvi of his party support in the polls and said that they were coalition partners of PTI and would endorse their decision.

“We voted for the prime minister and would repeat same for presidential polls,” said Maqbool while talking to media after the meeting and added that their coalition with PTI is for a vision and he is hopeful that under this government, Karachi would get its due share.

Maqbool said that the PTI delegation had discussed the way forward for resolving the issues of the Sindh province and if urban Sindh would get its due share then it would ultimately benefit the economy on the whole.

He, however, responding to MQM-P reservation over poll rigging, said that they were legally free to demand for opening of the constituencies where they consider any wrong doing and even the PTI had assured them of their complete support in the process.

Speaking on the occasion, Alvi assured the MQM-P leadership that meetings would soon be convened to resolve the issues of the city. “We also want to thank MQM-P for their support in prime ministerial elections,” he said adding that party would take into confidence all of its coalition partners for fulfilling its 100 day agenda.

He said that petition of MQM-P on local bodies powers is of key importance and PTI could also file a petition on the same issue. He said that the votes from MQM-P would help them bring a president from Karachi.
