LAHORE - The National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) Gold Cup Hockey Tournament will be starting from today (Monday) at National Hockey Stadium Lahore. In all 16 teams are taking part in the tournament, which are divided in to four groups. NBP, PIA, Navy, Railways, KESC, PAF, Army, Port Qasim, Pakistan Steel Mills, HBL, WAPDA, Police, Punjab, Sindh, NWFP and Balochistan are amongst the teams. Opening match of the tournament will be played between NBP and Pakistan Police at 2pm at National Hockey Stadium. At this occasion Sports Minister Punjab Dr. Tanveer Islam will be the chief guest. National Bank of Pakistan also announced the prize money for the tournament. Winner team will get forty thousand rupees and runner ups will get twenty thousand rupees. Three best players of the tournament will get five thousand rupees each.For the smooth conduct of the tournament, Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) already announced tournament officials. Secretary Punjab Hockey Association Rana Mujahid Ali will be the organising secretary of the tournament, while President Lahore District Hockey Association Khalid Rasool will be the tournament director. Ansar Jora and Anjum Saeed will act as tournament officers. Faiz Muhammad Faizi will be the Umpires Manager, while ten other umpires announced to supervise the matches. Zulfiqar Haider Shah (Police), Anwar Hussain (Army), Muhammad Asif (Kohat), Haider Rasool (ABL), Ihsan-Ul-Haq Badar (RWP), Mohsin Ali Khan (HBL), Rana Muhammad Liaqat (AG Punjab), Muhammad Parvez (Faisalabad), Kamran Hussain (Army) and Musaddiq (RYK) will be the umpires.
