ISLAMABAD - Taking notice of weapons' disappearance from a police station of Islamabad, Advisor to Prime Minister on Interior Rehman Malik on Sunday ordered for the transfer of Senior Superintendent Police (SSP), suspension of the concerned Assistant Superintendent Police (ASP), arrest of the concerned SHO and other staff members. According to details, some arms and ammunition disappeared from Aabpara Police Station. Advisor of Prime Minister on Interior Rehman Malik, after knowing of the incident, took the police officials' irresponsible behaviour seriously and ordered for the transfer of SSP Ahmad Latif, suspension of Assistant Superintendent Police Dr Shehzad and arrest of the concerned SHO Naeem Iqbal, along with four Assistant Sub-Inspectors, including Moharrar, a Head Constable and four constables. Some sources in the police disclosed to TheNation that the disappeared arms and ammunition were part of the lot recovered during the Lal Masjid operation. Interior Ministry has constituted a joint investigation team (JIT) to probe into the matter. The ministry official told that officials from Intelligence Bureau (IB), Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) are part of the joint investigation team. He further disclosed that a constable had informed the Advisor on Interior of the arms' disappearance.
