People usually don't have a good impression of the police. They think the police officials are more with the lawless than with the law-abiding. But DG FIA Tariq Khosa has turned that impression round with his honesty and upright conduct. He has been the most talked about police officer of the past few days because he transformed the image of his department by neither bowing to pressure nor to influence in performance of his duties. He was moved from his important position by Prime Minister because he was stepping on sensitive toes of the all powerful involved in high embezzlement--no mean feat in a corruption-ridden society like ours. Someone else in his position could have easily made a few million dollars for stashing up in a foreign account with a plush apartment next to General Musharraf in London. -DR. A. P.
