ISLAMABAD - The National Assembly Sub-standing Committee on Health is considering to move privilege motion against the doctors who have sent legal notice to former captain national cricket team Wasim Akram. Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Convenor of the National Assembly Sub-standing Committee on Health, expressed these views after chairing the meeting here on Monday. The committee believed that the legal notice issued by Dr Kamran Cheema and others in connection with his wifes death case was baseless and it has no valid grounds. The committee expressed dissatisfaction over low progress in Huma Wasim and Amanae Malik death case. Whereas it also took serious notice of absence of doctors of two hospitals that were also summoned to attend the meeting and clear their position over the issue. The sub-committee that was formed to investigate the death case of Huma Waseem in the light of concerned committees findings has rescheduled its meeting on next week due to the absence of Health Minister and Secretary Health. He said the next sub-committee meeting will be held on December 31 to discuss the matter in detail and after that appropriate action will be proposed in the meeting. It is to be mentioned here that the National Assembly standing Committee on Health after completing investigation into the death of Huma Waseem Akram decided to cancel practice licence of all those responsible doctors but so far Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has failed to come up with any strict action in this regard.
