Sindh Assembly pays homage to Benazir

KARACHI - The Sindh Assembly Monday unanimously passed a resolution to pay homage to the unprecedented services of Benazir Bhutto rendered towards establishment of real democracy in the country. The lawmakers from Opposition as well as treasury benches expressed anger over not-arrest of the killers of Benazir Bhutto despite passing of two years of PPP government. They demanded that government should expose the people responsible who executed the killing and planned murder of Shaheed Benazir. The resolution was moved by PPP MPA Haji Munwar Abbasi and also signed by Law Minister Muhammad Ayaz Soomro and other members including Information Minister Shazia Marri, Irrigation Minister Murad Ali Shah, MPAs Tariq Masood Arain, Sikandar Mandhro, Anwar Mehar, Javed Shah Jillani, Ghulam Qadir Chandio and Nusrallah Baloch. The resolution was moved to pay homage to Shaheed Benazir Bhutto on her second death anniversary on 27th of the present month, which will not be observed at large level because it will fall on 9th Muharam. The House carried the resolution unanimously which reads: This Assembly pays homage to the unprecedented services of Shaheed Muhtarma Benazir Bhutto rendered towards the establishment of real democracy in the country, safeguarding the basic rights of millions of downtrodden people of Pakistan, and scarifying her life for the accomplishment of this noble cause. However, many members from PPP were seen with tears in their eyes during speeches on resolution, while MPAs also chanted slogan of 'Shaheed Benazir hum Sharminda hen, Teray qatil zinda hen. PPP MPA Haji Munwar Abbasi while speaking on resolution paid rich tributes to Benazir Bhutto and said that the anti-democratic forces of the country were behind the killing of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto. He made it clear that PPP came into power due to the sacrifice rendered by our Shaheed leader; and that Asif Ali Zardari was elected President because of martyrdom of Benazir Bhutto. He demanded that killers of Benazir Bhutto must be exposed, as it was the duty of our government to expose the murderers and planners who committed the heinous act of killing the great leader. Law Minister Muhammad Ayaz Soomro assured the House that killers of Benazir Bhutto would get their deserved punishment very soon, vowing that PPP would take the revenge of its leader. Opposition leader and parliamentary chief of PML-F Jam Madad also paid tributes to Benazir Bhutto said that PPP government should implement election manifesto, which was announced by their Shaheed leader. Sindh Minister for Culture and Tourism Department Sassui Palijo said that establishment of Pakistan never liked Benazir Bhutto due to her struggle for empowerment of people. She also demanded that United Nations should expose the killers of Benazir Bhutto immediately. She further said that vicious circle of sending dead bodies of leaders to small provinces must be stopped. Minister for Information Department Shazia Marri said that anti-democratic forces which were behind killing of Benazir Bhutto. PML-Q member RamSingh Soodho termed the Bhutto family as legendary who sacrificed their lives. He paid tributes to Benazir Bhutto and said that there is lesson in her quotation, 'Democracy is the best revenge. Mrs Nusrat Sehar Abbasi of PML-F said that two years has passed, but government failed to bring the killers of Benazir Bhutto to justice. She said that all the members of PPP were sitting in the assembly due to her sacrifice, but no one from party ever demanded the arrest of killers. It was debt of Benazir on present government to expose her killers because if the PPP government could not do that who else could. Imdad Pitafi of PPP said that after the martyrdom of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, the conspiracies were being hatched against her party and democratic government. He said that another NRO, which was signed between Musharraf and Nawaz Sharif, must also be brought before courts. He warned the undemocratic forces and their companions not to corner PPP against the wall and said that PPP wanted to save Pakistan. Tariq Masood Arain said that the forces, which killed Zulfiqar Bhutto were behind killing of his daughter Benazir Bhutto too. Dr Rafiq Bhanban of PML-F said that despite having the president, prime minister and chief ministers, PPP government has failed to bring the killers to the justice. Muhammad Nawaz Chandio of PPP also demanded that government should arrest the killers of our leader. Sharjeel Memon said that killers of Shaheed Zulfiqar Bhutto, Shaheed Shahwaz Bhutto, Shaheed Murtaza Bhutto and Shaheed Benazir Bhutoot are the same forces that are working on anti-Pakistan agenda.
