KARACHI The Sindh Bar Council (SBC) members will vote for Pakistan Bar Council on Wednesday (today) wherein 12 SBC members are contesting for six PBC seats. According to details, the PBC elections are going to be held on Wednesday wherein the members of all four provinces bar councils will cast their votes in their respective bars, as polling stations have been set up in their respective offices at Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar and Quetta High Courts buildings. The lawyer leaders in Sindh have claimed of the political interference in the elections, as some provincial ministers, government representatives and officials allegedly using their personal friendship to support to lead their favourite candidates to victory. In Sindh as many as thirty three members of SBC were able to cast their vote to elect six PBC members from the province. One of the voters Mushtaq Shah hailing from Khairpur, Merat, is said to be ill and could not cast his vote. The election process in Sindh will be supervised by Chairman SBC Yousuf Laghari, who is also Advocate General Sindh. Two from twelve contesting candidates from SBC were said to be retired from the elections. The members of all four provincial bars will vote to elect at least 22 members of the PBC for the next five-year term, against the seats reserved for their respective provinces. In which six members will be elected from Sindh. Similarly, Punjab Bar Council will elect 11 members; Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council will elect four members and one member will elected from Balochistan Bar Council. Earlier, despite the fact that the lawyer leaders have made several efforts to nominate a joint panel in Sindh, but the SBC members had not reached any consensus regarding fielding joint candidates. The groups in SBC heading by former President Sindh High Court Bar Association (SHCBA) Rasheed A. Rizvi, vice chairman of SBC Ali Muhammad Dairi and Yaseen Azad, but the three groups did not agree to withdraw their candidates. As many as twelve candidates have submitted their nominations include, Rasheed A. Rizvi, Yaseen Azad, Rana Shamim, Salahuddin Panwar, Saleem Jaser, Hakeem Bajarani, Shabir Shar, Ibrar Hasan, Faisal Kamal, Akhtar Husain, Zia Awan and KB Bhutto, wherein six of them will be selected as members of PBC. According to source a group headed by Rasheed A Rizvi and former President of Supreme Court Bar Association Munir A Malik has fielded three candidates include Rasheed A. Rizvi, Faisal Kamal and Zia Awan. Though, Yasin Azad, who also among the candidates, is supporting three other candidates of his group including Akhtar Husain, Shabir Shar and Ibrar Hasan. However, Azads rival group alleged that Sindh law minister is fully backing his group, and in this regard they had several meetings. Strangely, none of the Azads group candidate has been associated with Pakistan Peoples Party PPP. However, Ali Muhammad Dairy has field Sallahuddin Panwar, who said to be associated with PPP, but he did not have PPP support in the election, but he got sympathy of Rasheed A. Rizvi group.
