ISLAMABAD - Former federal minister and JUI-F leader Azam Swati on Tuesday initiated another debate by terming the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) bogus and corrupt one. Addressing a press conference, Azam Swati criticised the incumbent Governments decision to cut budget to facilitate BISP, saying it might facilitate few people but on the whole it harmed the country. Swati was of the view that the countries did not move forward on the basis of charity rather through the advancements in science and technology, higher education and vocational training. To a question, Abdul Ghafo-or Haideri, who was also present on the occasion, said that the in-house change was possible only if big parties - PML-N and PML-Q - took some decision in this regard. Answering a question about Haj scam, the sacked minister said that he would give more proofs about corruption before Supreme Court of Pakistan on January 06. He would discuss issues regarding Haj scam and his termination in court. He further said that he had collected evidences against the accused person. When asked about any plan to get portfolio of religious ministry, he said that no demand was made in this regard.
