LAHORE - Pakistan defeated Nepal by five wickets in the first ODI played at Mirpur Cricket Stadium, Mirpur Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, according to information received here on Tuesday. Pakistan won the toss and put Nepal to bat first. Nepal posted 269 runs on the board by losing all their wickets in 40 overs. At one stage, Nepal was struggling on 154 for eight wickets but the ninth-wicket partnership of 104 runs helped a lot to Nepal in raising their total. Ram Parsad was the top scorer with 54 runs while Sunil and Sher Jung scored 44 and 40 runs respectively. Arslan, Touseef, Imran, and Munawar took one wicket each. Pakistan, in reply, reached the target in 24th over for the loss of five wickets. Zainul Abidin gave a brisk start to Pakistan team with 37 runs. Khalid Latif scored 48 runs while Sarfraz remained unbeaten on 41 runs. Rajindra took one wicket. Zainul Abidin was declared man of the match. Commissioner Mipur Division Dr Mahmud-ul-Hasan was the chief guest of the occasion and distributed prizes among the players. The second ODI of the series will be played at Shalimar Cricket Stadium Islamabad on December 23.
