RAWALPINDI - The son of missing general secretary of Railways Prem Union (CBA) met with Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Saturday and requested him to make efforts for the safe recovery of his father and other missing people.

The chairman Railways Prem Union went missing along with his companions in Khushab on December 17 when they were on their way back after attending a funeral.

Ch Nisar assured him about the safe and soon recovery of his father and other colleagues. He said that the law enforcement agencies would do their level best to find out the missing people. PML-N MNA from Gujar Khan Javed Ikhas was also present during the meeting. On the other hand, Railway Employees (Prem) Union staged a massive protest demonstration at Railway Road and threatened to block all the rail cars across the country if the police failed to recover the missing employees. The protestors blocked Railway Road for traffic. The employees also set up a protest camp outside Rawalpindi Railway Station to press the government to recover the missing persons.

Talking to The Nation, Raja Yasir Aslam, member of the union said their colleagues including General Secretary Ishtiaq Assi, Haji Rauf and Muhammad Arif Jan went to Khushab to attend a funeral but gone missing while on way back on December 17. A case was registered with Mittha Tiwana police station in Khushab.

He said that Ishtiaq and his family had no enmity with anyone. "If he is kidnapped for ransom then the kidnapers should have contacted us," he said.

He said that the missing employees' phones were continuously not responding. Members of other unions also joined Prem union in their protest.
