LAHORE - Punjab Auqaf and Religious Affairs Minister Ata Muhammad Manika has said the 970th annual urs of Hazrat Ali Bin Usman Al-Hajvery Hazrat Data Gunj Bakhsh will commence from (Sunday).

During briefing at Smaa Hall Data Gunj Bakhsh Complex, the minister said sufficient arrangements have been made with the collaboration of district administration for boarding and lodging of devotees.

Secretary Auqaf and  Religious Affairs Muhammad Saqib Aziz and Director General Muhammad Hassan Rizvi were also present on the occasion. The Minister said that Rs 8 million had been allocated for urs ceremonies and other arrangements besides making foolproof security arrangements and in this regard, 100 close circuit cameras had been installed. He said as many as 1700 police officials have been deputed besides 12 walk through gates and metal detectors have been provided for security of devotees. He said that lady police constables have also been deputed in the ladies portion of the Mazar besides volunteers of different volunteer organizations will also perform duty on the occasion. The minister said that 74 security guards have also been provided by a private security agency. Manika said that special arrangements have been made to check the incidents of pick-pocketing. He said that bomb disposal squads will also be present all the time for coping with any emergency situation. He said that special traffic plan has also been made for smooth flow of traffic on this occasion.
