KARACHI - The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Thursday claimed to have arrested 12 officials of Karachi Development Authority and two alleged land grabbers over involvement in illegal allotment of state land. However, NAB also summoned to Director General SBCA over constructions of illegal public sale projects during last 12 years.
A team of NAB, Karachi has arrested 12 officials of Karachi Development Authority (KDA) including DDO Recovery KDA Syed Rizwan Ahmed, Superintendent Recovery Muhammad Hanif Khan, DDO Shifting Irfan Khan Yousufzai, DDO Recovery Muhammad Kamran Warsi, DDO Shifting Atif Naqvi, Akhter Rasheed Superintendent Recovery, Khuda Bux Soomro Superintendent Recovery, Sarfaraz Ahmed Superintendent Recovery, Sheikh Fareed Clerk Recovery, Sagheer Ahmed Clerk Recovery, Muhammad Jumman Clerk Recovery and Jahanzaib Iqbal Clerk Recovery while two alleged private Beneficiaries Irfan Ahmed and Feroz Bangali also been arrested
The arrest were made from the outside the High Court, Sindh when the court has cancelled their interim bails.
NAB statement stated that the accused persons were wanted in a reference filed against them in Accountability Court on the charges of China-cutting of 23 amenity plots located in Gulistan-e-Johar area of Karachi and converting them illegally in 296 residential plots, causing loss to the national exchequer to the tune of above Rs 1.5 billion. Twelve arrested accused out of the above fourteen persons were officials of KDA working in different capacities. There are total 23 accused persons sent up for trial out of which two accused persons are already in judicial custody.
On the other side, National Accountability Bureau summoned the Director General Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) over along with all data of public sale projects as town wise.
It was revealed by letter issued by NAB to Director General SBCA Agha Maqsood Abbas and other officials of the authority.
The letter stated that the accountability bureau conducting an inquiry against Agha Maqsood Abbas and other officials of SBCA over corruption and illegal practice in approval of illegal commercial and residential buildings. According to the letter NAB summoned the Director General SBCA on 22nd December along with the all data of public sale projects which constructed from 1st January 2006 till to date.
It is worth to mentioning here that NAB had also collected various records of public sale projects of the city in different time especially North Nazimabad Town, Jamshed Town, Saddar Town, Gadap Town and other Towns of the city while NAB officials had also investigated several officers of SBCA in same inquiry. Sources said that couple of months ago NAB had also sent a letter to the Director General Sindh Building Control Authority to provide data about the approval of mega housing project Bahria Town and the Director General SBCA Agha Maqsood Abbas has failed to provide satisfactory data of the approval as sources said that might be Agha Maqsood will be arrested by NAB.
