Lahore - Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday challenged his opponents to detect any fraud in Multan Metro Bus project, reported Dunya News.
Addressing a ceremony, he said the government was ready to face NAB probe if any corruption would be pointed out.
The CM said that corruption accusations against him were dismissed by the authorities. Who will blacklist those who hurl false allegations against others? he asked.
He said it’s for the first time that Punjab government is completing projects of federation. He also assured that plans worth millions are underway to provide clean water to the people.
The CM stressed politicians, judges, generals and traders should jointly work to make Pakistan stronger state.
A handout cited Shehbaz as saying that the project of changing 105 out-of-order tube-wells has been completed with the cooperation of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to provide clean drinking water to people.
“Due to the completion of this project, the citizens of Lahore are getting arsenic-free clean water. The project has been completed in 18-months with a cost of Rs2.30 billion. We are thankful to the government of Japan for extending its cooperation,” he said while addressing a ceremony at Model Town on project completion.
He went on to say: “During the last nine years, Punjab government has given particular attention to the issue of providing clean drinking water to the people along with health, education and other civic amenities. Clean drinking water is the basic right of every citizen. We will supply the potable water to people across the province if we are re-elected to power.”
“The change of 105 tube-wells is a wonderful gift of Japan and the people as well as the Punjab government are thankful to them,” he added. The CM also mention potable water projects in other districts. He said billions of rupees have been looted in the name of development projects during the last 70 years.
He welcomed the CJP’s recent visit to Mayo Hospital where he inspected facilities being provided to public. He vowed to complete transparently Orange Line at as soon as possible. He came down hard on PTI chief Imran Khan for what he called hindering the project.
He also slammed former president Pervez Musharaf and ex-CM Pervaiz Elahi for what he called attempting to loot public treasure. Speaking on the occasion, the Japanese ambassador vowed to cement ties with Pakistan.
In his meeting with a delegation of farmers, the chief minister said the government protected their interests and it would continue doing so.
He said: “No exploitation is tolerable. I will go to every extent for securing the stakes of farmers of Punjab. Sale of sugarcane at Rs180 per mound will be ensured at every cost.” The CM also set up a committee to implement the decisions made for the farmers, said that this committee will review implementation status of the decisions.
