Hassaan orders steps to conserve heritage

LAHORE - Adviser to Chief Minister Punjab Kh Ahmad Hassaan has directed measures for conservation of 11 historical buildings during execution of work on Lahore Orange Line Metro Train Project.

Chairing meeting to review progress on the project on Thursday, he directed installation of special instruments for monitoring vibration intensity and mitigating environmental and noise pollutions around these places.

Three committees have also been constituted on the directions of the Supreme Court. These included an advisory committee, a technical committee and a special committee while and independent conservation engineer has also been appointed on court order, he revealed.

He said that construction of track near Gulabi Bagh and Bhudu’s tomb on GT Road has been started. Construction near Shalimar Garden, Chuberji and Lakshmi building will commence soon as work for covering the front elevations of these buildings with protective sheets was in progress.
