PESHAWAR - Jamaat-e-Islami chief Senator Siraj-ul-Haq has said that consultations on the revival of MMA were underway and all the component parties in the alliance will contest the next general election under the one-electoral symbol.

Talking to the media after addressing his party’s student wing IJT’s organized ‘Students Talent Award Festival’ at Islamia College University here on Thursday, he said that parties having a clean record with no names in the Panama Papers would also be invited to join the MMA. He said that a jirga would be sent to JUI-S chief Maulana Sami-ul-Haq to join the alliance. While taking about FATA’s merger with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he said that the JI stand was the same as taken by the tribesmen and the people of the tribal areas should be given the same status as those living the cities of Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.

Coming down hard on political leaders, Haq said that no protest was organized by the leadership when Al- Aqsa mosque was taken over by the Israelis.

He said the JI held a million march in Karachi on Al-Aqsa and also raised the issue in the parliament.  However, he said, that the political leadership in the country including the rulers was not prepared to raise the issue. He said that if the Muslim rulers had considered the issues of Kashmir, Palestine, Burma and Bosnia as their issues, Kashmir and Palestine would have been liberated by now.

He said that the so-called Muslim rulers considering Washington as their guide were further dividing the Ummah on regional, ethnic and sectarian grounds only to remain in power. However, he said, there was an awakening among the Ummah which was disturbing the ruling junta.  Holding the rulers responsible for all social, political and economic problems, the JI chief said that ousted premier Nawaz Sharif could not establish a single standard hospital in the country during his prolonged rule where his wife could be treated. He said that current education system had divided the nation. “No child of political leaders is studying in Pakistan. They themselves abroad go for treatment but come to Pakistan to rule only.”

Haq said the JI has prepared an ambitious plan after consulting more than 900 PhDs for the development of education, economy, agriculture, trade, energy and advanced technology and was mobilizing the youth for achieving the goal
