Karachi (PPI) - The Operation Theatre light fell on the patient and doctors at one of the operation theatres of Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre Karachi due to the negligence of the staff resulting in minor injuries to patient and staff. The incident occurred on Saturday just before the start of operation at Operation Theatre No. 7 of Surgical Unit, Ward No. 21 where A 40-year-old woman named Nuzhat was supposed to undergo surgery for removal of Thymous. The woman was unconscious at the time of incident and she had to be transferred to ICU following the incident. It was learnt that majority of the equipment used at the hospital are out of order but no heed was being paid to repair them by the administration. "Immediately after this incident Dr Srichand V Talib, the Theatre Incharge was asked to conduct a preliminary enquiry", read a press release issued by JPMC. Thereafter Dr Muhammad Umar Baloch, Joint Executive Director, was assigned to fix responsibility within two hours.
