According to a press report, four teams have been assigned to probe the very sad murder of PPP Lahore Vice President Malik Shahid Imtiaz. Unfortunately, no such teams were formed at the time of the tragic assassination of the PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto at Rawalpindi in December 2007. This is because her aggrieved husband, the present PPP co-chair, Mr. Zardari, did not have confidence in the investigation outfits of Pakistan. So he, eventually, made a special request to UNO for investigation of her wife's gruesome murder and the UNO acceded to this request recently. In fact, the UN Secretary General, personally came to Pakistan to announce this. Since Ms Benazir had always assured the party workers that she cared more for them than herself (a fact endorsed by Mr. Zardari after her demise), why not request the UN Secretary General to take up the investigation of the murder of Malik Shahid Imtiaz too? His bereaved family would be highly grateful. -B.A. MALIK, Lahore, via e-mail, February 5.
